    Story

The Mental Health Professional and the New Technologies: A Handbook for Practice Today

The TeleMental Health Institute, Inc. (TMHI) was founded by Dr. Maheu, Pulier and McMenamin in 2009 after over a decade of collaborative work in behavioral telehealth to documenting the telemedicine evidence base in textbook form. Their shared passion was to identify what works in behavioral telehealth and spread the word to their colleagues. They collaborated on several publications and a cornerstone text book for the field, which was published in 2004. When eLearning platforms became cost effective, Dr. Maheu funded the development of an open source eLearning platform that is now housed at www.telehealth.org. Dr. Maheu, Pulier and McMenamin then set about to condense the printed materials of those previously written textbooks into coursework that could be accessed 24/7 through this TMHI eLearning platform. Drs. Pulier and McMenamin have donated their respective contributions to assist the TMHI effort, thereby allowing Dr. Maheu to steer the Institute to the success is now enjoys as the leading telemental and behavioral telehealth training center available worldwide.
