General Course Acceptance Information

The TeleMental Health Institute, Inc. presents an integrated selection of professional-level training opportunities designed for licensed or post-graduate and credentialed professionals. In general, our Courses are combined into programs intended to enhance the ability of students to deliver specific kinds of services, to provide services to specific populations or to add a specific set of modalities to their clinical toolkit.

We avoid duplication and maintain quality by being selective in the Courses we accept, by upgrading existing Courses, and by replacing Courses when a more-effective one becomes available. In addition to grouping Courses into programs, we also classify them into broad topic areas. Please look over our existing offerings and consider where a new Course topic may have strong popular appeal. Needless to say, we favor quality over quantity in what we bring to our students and therefore reserve the right to be selective in the Courses we accept and/or retain.

We are looking for course material supported by references to peer-reviewed publications and that include lists of resources to which a student can turn, both for further information and for practical application. The courses should be interesting and entertaining as well as informative and "actionable," should deliver what is promised in their desriptions and their stated Learning  Objectives and should receive high ratings on the Course Assessment Questionnaires that students are obliged to complete prior to receiving their Certificate and CE credits.

Course Description

For each Course you'd like to teach, please send:

  1. One or two paragraphs of course description that incorporates appropriate keywords as determined by a search on this Google resource page: https://adwords.google.com/ . This description will be used for publicity, and should be designed to show up frequently in online searches for the keywords you use.

  2. Course Syllabus (bullet points of main topics)

  3. A video capture of your voice showing the main points of your course on PowerPoint or similar software. Such video captures can most easily be developed by using software such as Camtasia, downloading a free, trial version of Camtasia at the Camptasia website or going to Jing, where you can record free 10 minute segments of video for your course. However you produce them, just email those segments to us and we will edit and prepare them for our web interface. If you need help with this aspect, we are happy to assist you. Just contact us for instructions. (It's really very easy.)

  4. At least 4 specific Learning Objectives that will be assessed in the Final Exam and in the Course Assessment Questionnaire (next item below).

  5. A set of True-False questions for the Course Assessment Questionnaire. These questions simply need to reflect the 4 Learning Objectives you send to us for #3 above. They are needed so our students can assess whether the Course adequately and comfortably addressed your Learning Objectives.

  6. A set of True/False questions for the Final Exam (no less than 25 questions for 3-unit courses; 35 questions for 6-unit courses). These should assess attainment of the Learning Objectives (see above) and should recall other major points of the Course. Difficultly level should match the intended audience.

Supplemental Information

  1. Brief description of your professional qualifications and your Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  2. If your course includes links to other articles you have authored, we will need a copy of your article on our server. You will be asked to sign an agreement saying we can use these articles in your course. You will be sent an appropriate agreement form to complete for this purpose. Our agreement will also ask that you could send to our retaining the copyright for the material you submit to us. That agreement will ask you to accept full responsibility for your actions,  opinions, and representations, that is, it will have a "hold harmless" clause. In the same vein, you'll be asked to agree that  the material you have directly included in your course is not otherwise restricted by copyright.
  3. A paragraph explaining why one of our students would want to take your course.
  4. The following information for your "Faculty" page:
  • a 500-800 word bio-sketch about your credentials, your experience and your interests in telemental health;
  • a digitized photo in .jpeg or .gif format (something similar to the size of photo needed by Facebook).

Submit your proposal to: Faculty@TeleMentalHealth.com

Thank you.
