Behavioral Healthcare Magazine is a highly respected publication that serves strategic business, technology, and financial news and information for administrators, operational directors, and managers of behavioral health programs. After meeting at the National Council (NatCON) conference at the Gaylord Hotel in Orlando, Florida this past March, the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Julie Miller, offered me the opportunity to showcase new developments in technology. I’m given the latitude to cover anything from telehealth to mHealth.
I agreed with enthusiasm because of the magazine’s excellent reputation and audience. My hope is to demystify the many ways technology can be used to help all behavioral healthcare disciplines.
This week, Behavioral Healthcare Magazine launched my first monthly column, “Telehealth can be applied for substance use disorders.” Given that most substance use disorders are treated in correctional facilities in the United States, and how many CPT codes we have to support telehealth for substance use, our colleagues need to know how to practice and get reimbursed for the many services that are available via telehealth for substance use treatment.
Plan for the column?
Look for a new technology-related topic every month, most about real-life implementation.
