Behavioral Care at the Crossroads: Serving Clients/Patients with 21st Century Technologies

With the 21st century well underway, many addictions professionals are seeking answers to pivotal questions about using technology in addictions treatment. Such questions may include: Which technologies are safe to use? What if something goes wrong? Which advanced technologies are being developed for our field? This plenary will discuss the role of apps, telehealth, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, sensors, and robotics in addictions care. It will focus on the evidence-base related to using such technologies, the legal issues involved, the role of recently published NAADAC and other association standards, guidelines, competencies, and most importantly, where to get more information.
