Pediatric Telemedicine, Telehealth & Teletherapy: Practicing with Children & Adolescents

100% Online, 24/7
3 CME or CE Hours
Legal & Ethical Rules
Description
If you are challenged to work with children and youth to deliver pediatric telemedicine or telehealth, you are not alone. Many clinicians who are comfortable providing services in person are at a loss when a child plays off-screen, refuses to speak or participate, becomes emotional, or simply walks out of the room. Although much research has been published and guidelines for serving children and youth through telebehavioral health have been promulgated, much of that information has been difficult to most clinicians to find or implement day-to-day with manageable workflows.
This workshop aims to bring the pediatric telemedicine and telehealth evidence base to you in ways that are practical, predictable, and doable. You will walk away with a long list of new techniques, protocols, and resources to help you answer the majority of your clinical questions related to work with children, youth, and their families. Whether you want to practice telehealth, teletherapy, telepsychology, telepsychiatry, telebehavioral health, teleoccupational health, telespeech therapy, or telemental health, this training will show you how.
This program is designed to answer your questions and give you the skinny on where to go to get the information you need, what to do, and how to document your activities. Led by a pioneering telehealth thought leader, this program invites you to get answers to these questions:
- How can I deal with children who won’t sit in front of the camera where I can see them?
- How can I engage youth who look away and don’t speak?
- How can I effectively involve parents who are reluctant to assist before, during, or after a session?
- What are the different types of telehealth, and which is best for my practice?
- How can published telebehavioral health competencies help me deliver my telehealth services more easily?
- What is the optimal camera setup to work with pediatric telemedicine and telehealth?
- Where can I get up-to-date information about proven effective protocols for working with children, youth, and families?
- Where can I find published clinical guidelines for telemental health with a pediatric population?
You will be given the rules of the road, how they can legally and ethically be modified, who needs to know what, how, and when they need to know it. You will be given instructions for where and how to get key pediatric telehealth and telemedicine documents you’ll want to have at your fingertips. This much-needed program involves case-based learning to help you quickly manage the transition from theory to evidence-based practice.

Post-test need to be passed with a grade of 80% or better to get the course completion certificate. (You will have learned a lot, and passing should be no problem. Of more than 8,600 trainees that have come through our doors, only three needed help with post-tests.)
