Telehealth.org was founded by Marlene M. Maheu, PhD. As one of telehealth’s early pioneers, Dr. Maheu could see the many advantages of offering health services to people in their own environments. She focus on legal and ethical issues, and well, the rest is history! Today, after several iterations and name changes, Telehealth.org, is dedicated to offering telehealth training, consulting, and staffing services to the worldwide professional health community. It has developed step-by-step guidance for planning, launching, and growing telehealth clinical services and programs. With Telehealth.org’s 100% online training platform, professionals with access to the Internet from anywhere in the world can have immediate and 24/7 access to the full suite of Telehealth.org services, including:
- On-Demand Telehealth Training (Live Events & Recordings) — inexpensive, timely, and topic-focused 1-hour discussions to keep you up-to-date and fully informed of legal, ethical, and regulatory updates, industry developments, and other cutting-edge topics. They are accessible by computer or smart device in a LIVE format and, afterward, in recorded form through our On-Demand Library. All webinars include a CME, CNE, or CE contact hour recognized by most state and provincial licensing boards.

2. When is the Telehealth.org training? How long does it take?
Telehealth.org’s professional training is offered both 100% online and in-person. Telehealth.org’s online coursework gives you access 24/7. You will receive a rich multimedia platform to enhance your enjoyment and learning retention.
- Most of the training is written, following optimal instructional design principles of text-based information with links to primary and secondary source documents, interspersed with images, audio, and video segments to punctuate an important point.
- All video segments follow the American Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for being available with captions or a transcript.
- To help improve learning comprehension and retention, “Essential Points” in bullet points are provided at the top of many pages to help you initially grasp the important issues and give clues as to which specific topics are considered important enough to re-address in the post-tests.
- The training is also annotated with footnotes to give you the inside story on several important issues.
- Courses are self-paced, meaning you can stop and start at your convenience.
- A PDF format is available for all print courses if you’d like to carry the PDF to read as you move about your world. Audio and video recordings are available online 24/7.
- Telehealth.org training is self-directed in that it contains several high-quality links to primary source documents throughout the Internet that we’ve assembled for your convenience to deepen your learning.

Completing the Telehealth.org training will require approximately the same number of training time as CME, CNE, or CE hours offered with each course. A 6-hour course will take about 6 hours to complete, depending on how quickly you read. A one-hour course typically involves approximately 10,000 words, minus the words involved with presenting audio and video segments. The course evaluation and post-test will require you to return to the website to respond to questions. Post-tests must be passed with an 80% or better grade to get the course completion certificate with CME, CNE, or CE designations. otherwise, you will be allowed to print a generic course completion certificate.
You can complete all training anytime within six months from the date of purchase of any webinars, single courses, or the BCTP-I or BCTP-II Certificate program. You will be granted twelve months of access if you purchase the Telehealth.org BCTP-III Certificate program that comes with many bonuses in the “All-Access Pass.” It also comes with 12 monthly LIVE- Q&A Tele-Consults with one of Telehealth.org’s Core Faculty. 3. Do you offer Continuing Medical Education (CME), Continuing Nurse Education (CNE) or Continuing Education (CE) Contact Hours?
Telehealth.org has been formally approved by several groups, but if you are not sure whether your licensing board will accept our training, please send your Licensing Board the link to our accreditation and approval page to get their written approval.

How do I get help with the Telehealth.org website?
5. When is Telehealth.org's customer service team available?
Whenever a question arises, just send an email below. It will be held until our staff comes in for the next shift. If you need help with a particular course, please be sure to mention the name of the course and supply us with your phone number in case your email address is non-responsive (this happens more often than you might imagine). Our staff can answer your questions, change your login, or help you with any other issues. We are also available Monday – Friday, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM Pacific time, by email, live chat, or telephone appointment. To be given a telephone call from our staff, just email us through our Contact Center and suggest a few good times for us to reach you. We’ll be happy to answer your questions or even give you a “walk-through” of our facility if you like.
6. I missed part of the webinar, what do I do?
We’ve got you covered. All of our webinars are recorded and available for your convenience for up to 6 months from your date of purchase. You may review the recording through the Telehealth.org Training Center. Please note that it may take up to 3 days after an event to update the course with the webinar recording.
7. I'm having trouble printing my certificates.
Internet Explorer sometimes has problems opening automated certificates, so our first suggestion would be to try Chrome or Firefox as your Internet Browser software. Otherwise, we can email your certificates directly to you as an attachment. Just contact us below and be sure to let us know if you are working on a deadline.
8. What do I do if I have any other questions or concerns?
Please contact us by sending a written note below at your convenience. We answer messages during business hours between 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM, Pacific time. If you prefer a telephone response, just let us know where and when to reach you and we’ll call you. You’ll be answered by our friendly support staff who is grateful for your feedback and a chance to make it right.
9. Accommodations for Disabilities
The Telehealth.org training materials are written in Arial font to facilitate reading with appropriate alt tags for those who prefer or cannot see images. All audio and video recordings are produced with captions for deaf and hard-of-hearing Learners. PDF’s of all training is available for individuals who prefer to print and read training offline. Accommodations have successfully been developed for individual trainees with more specialized needs upon request. They will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Just write to us, tell us which adaptive devices you are now using and what you need from us. Please mention any deadlines.
10. What do I do if I have a problem with my training?
If anything is amiss, please immediately write to us using the form below. We have dedicated staff to help you resolve any questions or issues. If you can send exact URLs of pages with problems and a screenshot of what you see on your screen when you encounter a problem, that may be helpful. If you can include the type of computer that you are using (MAC or PC), along with the name of the browser (Safari, Chrome, Opera, etc.), that information can help us resolve some of the more complex issues.
Or maybe you just want someone to talk you through the process? For example, if you need someone to walk you through our online programming, we are happy to call you by telephone to explain where you may need to click while you are on your computer. Once through a few of our pages, you will most likely be like our other Learners and come to understand the logic and convenience of an elearning platform. By the way, we’ve had successful Learners in their 90’s use our system.
11. If I'm not satisfied, can I get a refund?
Refunds are available for any course within 30 days of purchase if you are dissatisfied. However, there will be a $25 refund fee. Please allow us to remedy any disappointments by writing to us first. Our contact desk is available from Monday to Friday during business hours. If you would like a phone call rather than an email response, please provide times you’ll be available and where you can be reached. (a telephone number, a mobile number, and a direct line, including an extension, if any).
12. Your current pricing is lower than what I originally paid when I purchased it in the last 30 days. Can I get a refund for the difference?
Like any retail store, reduced pricing is unavailable to everyone who purchases the product at a different price. We appreciate your help honoring your agreed-upon price at the time of your purchase.

For your convenience, we also offer a monthly payment plan option on select programs. After your initial purchase, your credit card will be set up to be charged for that payment on that same date for the remaining payments.
SPECIAL NOTE: Please inform us of credit card changes. Reinstatement will incur a $45 administrative fee. Your access to Telehealth.org will be suspended immediately upon credit card failure.

Add any training item to your cart. Near the end of the checkout process, select PayPal as your payment option. PayPal will allow you to use your preferred currency in most cases. How can I tell if Telehealth.org’s training is right for me?
17. How computer savvy ado I need to be?
A basic understanding of your computer and how to navigate the Internet is all you need to get started. Our courses are set up to be user-friendly, and our support staff will help you if you find you need assistance with our online training facility.
18. Which Telehealth.org Certificate is best for my needs?
The BCTP®-I Certificate training is best for you if you work in a hospital, clinic, agency, or group setting that is legally and ethically practicing telebehavioral health. The important decisions have already been made. You just need some basic legal, ethical and clinical information about how to think about what has been organized for you.:
- Your technology has been chosen, vetted, installed, and is being managed by your company’s Information Technology (IT) staff.
- Legal counsel has been obtained to approve your telehealth informed consent process and document.
- Your group’s malpractice carrier is engaged and offers you adequate malpractice coverage for delivering telehealth services.
- Your clinical staff has developed a well-defined emergency plan based on local community resources, and an integrated response system is in place if an emergency arises at the client/patient site.
- Your supervisors know what might go wrong, and contingency plans are in place.
- Your billing staff already knows the appropriate telebehavioral health billing codes, place of service designations, and telehealth modifiers.
You will benefit from the fundamentals offered by the BCTP®-I Certificate training to help you think through the issues to see the bigger clinical picture. You are primarily interested in knowing how it all ties together for delivering responsible, professional telehealth care.
The BCTP®-II Certificate training is best for you if you need to attend to the above independently, without an IT department, legal office, billing staff, clinical staff, or supervisors to help you think through the issues. The BCTP®-II Certificate training will help you choose your technology, decide whether or not to use videoconferencing, email, text messaging, and other technologies, set up your virtual office and clinical protocols to follow current telepractice guidelines, and learn how to get paid for your services.
The BCTP®-III Certificate training is best for you if you are an independent practitioner or a supervisor, administrator, or program director. You are responsible for all clinical services and need a broad base of telehealth information that is evidence-based, distilled, and easy to integrate into your everyday workflows. You want the big picture, as well as actionable training that leaves you with to-do lists to help you get the job done quickly and correctly the first time.
The BCTP®-III Certificate is part of Telehealth.org’s All-Access Pass, which also comes packaged with the following:

19. Can I start with Level I Certificate Program, then change it later?
Absolutely. To make changes to your training package, please contact us. Behind the scenes, changing your training program requires staff time and supervision. An administrative fee of $45 will be charged for the implementation of changes after an initial purchase (excluding webinars).
20. Which title will I earn when I complete the Telehealth.org Certificate Program?
Earn your certificate as a Board Certified Telehealth Professional (BCTP-I, II, or III) *. This designation** is increasingly used to recognize our graduates for having completed the most comprehensive and research-based post-graduate training program available anywhere today.

**Fees for any of these credentials are included in your Telehealth.org training fee. Testing for the credential is accomplished by passing each course’s post-test with a grade of 80% or higher. Post-tests can be taken up to three times during your paid access period. Extended access periods are available for a modest fee. This credential is valid for three years and requires annual renewal for a fee of $40 per year. Annual renewal requires an additional three hours of training from Telehealth.org.
21. How do I get my certificate?
After completing the courses required for the Certificate Programs: Level I, Level II and All Access Pass, send us a request to manually verify your certificate completion. If you have used the instalment payment program, your entire course payment fee must be paid in full. Please give us 3-5 business days to complete your account verification.
22. Who teaches the courses?
Telehealth.org has earned the respect of many industry leaders who have chosen to be on our faculty by developing coursework, participating in webinars or joining us for online conference interviews about specialty topics. 23. How do On-Demand Specialty Topics work?
On-Demand Specialty Topics cover updated hot-topic items, helping you obtain the basic information about areas such as secure web-based communication and innovations in behavioral health. The webinars are held live online but also recorded for your convenience. You will have up to 6 months after the purchase to review webinar materials, which include a recording, slides and often, a handout Webinars also allow you to join our Telehealth.org Private Training Discussions, where you can ask questions and interact without other trainees. Telehealth.org slide decks are not available for download/duplication. Rather, your fee pays for 24/7 access by logging into your Telehealth.org training materials and viewing them in the webinar course materials as an interactive slide deck.
24. How do I get my CE or CME Hours?
Once you have completed the coursework, including the required reading, course evaluation, and post-test, you can print your course certificate by choosing the “Course Certificate” option in the navigation menu.
- Course description pages will tell you which courses come with which approvals for CME, CNE, or CE. Some accreditations exclude some types of courses. For example, social workers are typically not allowed CEs for training related to business practices.
- Please note the certificate will print your name as listed in your training account. It is recommended that you check your name in your profile before printing your certificate.
25. How does the Telehealth.org Certificate compare with other available telehealth certificates?
We welcome all such questions and appreciate the opportunity to tell you how we shine. Not only were we the first digital training platform for telehealth worldwide, but here are 12 reasons why Telehealth.org still beats any competition:
- Certificate vs. Certification? Many privately-held training facilities offer “Certifications” when they should not. According to commonly accepted standards, large federal groups such as the US government’s federal behavioral health care arm known as the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) or the National Insitute of Drug and Alcohol (NIDA) can offer “certifications.” Private groups like Telehealth.org and its competitors should offer “certificates” but not “certifications.”

- CMEs, CNEs and CEs. Telehealth.org has passed muster with medical continuing education (AACME) for physicians, physician’s assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners; and continuing education for psychologists, social workers, counselors, marriage and family therapists, and addictions specialists. for some courses, Telehealth.org has also obtained approval for CCNE contact hours for registered and specialty nurses, Professionals today are expected to be interprofessional.
