Louisiana Counselor/Therapist CE Requirements
How many CEs does Louisiana require?
- LPCs – 40 hours every two years, 20 of which may be completed online, and 10 of which may be completed by home study
- PLPCs – 20 hours every two years, 10 of which may be completed online, and 5 of which may be completed by home study
- LMFTs – 40 hours every two years, 20 of which may be completed online
- PLMFTs – 20 hours every two years, 10 of which may be completed online
How many Ethics & Law CEs does Louisiana require?
- LPCs – 3
- PLPCs – 1.5
- LMFTs – 3 in ethics specific to marriage and family therapy
- PLMFTs – 1.5 in ethics specific to marriage and family therapy
Other CE Requirements
- LPCs – 6 hours in diagnosis (assessment, diagnosis, and treatment under the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, as published by the American Psychiatric Association)
- PLPCs – 3 hours must be in diagnosis (assessment, diagnosis, and treatment under the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, as published by the American Psychiatric Association)
- LMFTs – 6 hours must be in diagnosis (assessment, diagnosis, and treatment under the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, as published by the American Psychiatric Association)

- Licensees approved to provide Teletherapy services – 3 hours in teletherapy
